I have used this machine for over a year. I am impressed to the ability to be an external device.I get tired of opening the computer case and install commands in the bays, and try to get the right cables to adapt. My unit is quiet.Not what I would call the terrible noise. My experience, all CD drives really get cranked up when they start. My unit is very stable. I have it in the bracket as shown in the picture, in the vertical position. My unit came with Nero, and after using it for a short period, it seems pretty easy trying to decide if you want to make backups of CDs, DVDs or photo. PHD of WYO
